Woo! I moved in! It has been quite an extraordinary few days. I don’t say that lightly. I’ll brief you on moving day:
So it’s Saturday. I’ve been waiting for this day for more than a month. I’ve been living in chaos for weeks, living in a room full of boxes and going through the never-ending pile “what do I do with this” stuff. Long story short, my best buddy who was going to help me move sprained his foot really badly that morning surfing and it was his right foot. Poor guy, he showed up thinking he would still be able to help me but as the minutes went by his foot got worse so not only was I out of a moving friend, but I had to drive him around all over to get things from his house, take him to the docs, bring him food… All the things a good friend would do and I was happy to do it for him but a little stressful to say the least. In the end, another friend pulled through and helped me move my bed and deal with Old Yeller. Oh man… let’s talk about Old Yeller.
I had to let her go. So sad. She’s been the best but she’s a beast. Moving is not fun with her and when my moving buddy got hurt, I started to reconsider moving her around especially because I now live on a second floor. Although she was an Ikea score that was discontinued, I figured I was ready for a change. I bought her 4 years ago for around $300. I sold her for $200. People were really excited about it. So what did I do for a dresser?!
Here’s what!:
Ok here’s the breakdown:
I scored this dresser at Goodwill for $79. Loved the curves and saw the potential immediately:
Next I removed all the drawers and drawer pulls.
Sanded it all down so that the paint can stick easily.
This is a custom color I made from my previous room’s wall paint which was a sage green (very close to beige) and turquoise.
I did 2 coats but I wasn’t so concerned about even coverage.
And finally sanded that puppy down a bunch. I wanted a very weathered look. I also sealed it with a spray satin coat.
I absolutely adore this piece! I can’t wait to show you more projects I’ve done and more on the way… it’s gonna be so good!
